It most certainly can be done in OSM, however until we have a better method
of distinguishing data relating to old rather than current features of the
built environment it would be a good idea to tag the items with a suitable
namespace. Perhaps something like archaeology:highyway= etc etc would be a
good start for now? If the items also contain data about the age and history
these can be split off and incorporated into additional tags at a later date
when we have a better tagging schema for archaeology.
