If you are talking about an empty field with archaeology under it, then
there is no problem - just draw stuff and tag it. You may want to start
a wiki page for archaeological tags.
If the archaeology is underneath modern buildings/roads etc. then you
have more of a problem, and you may well confuse other editors etc. In
that case, it may be better to hold off adding your data to OSM at the
moment, until we develop some way to serve data that is differentiated
logically rather than just spatially (at the moment, you can't ask the
system for "all roads in an area", just "all of an area", for example)
This kind of thing is moderately far away in the feature roadmap. If you
are in a hurry, you could set up your own server and put your own
archaeology information in there, and use custom versions of Mapnik or
osmarender to render it..
