At the moment, you can't see them /at all/ unless you zoom in really
close. Even at zoom 15 they are hard to see. Just makeing the dots black
would probably do the trick and/or twice the size and half as frequent.

As for not making them ways, if we don't have street names or other
details for them, who cares if they are ways or not. The fact that they
exist is important. It makes that part of london (for example) look much
less bare. When tracing from Yahoo images or especially from 3rd party
GPS data like ATSL, you have no idea where the roads start and end, so
making ways is not appropriate, but if you put something there, then
people who live nearby will see it and think "I can improve this", where
as if they see nothing, they think "OSM is useless - there is nothing
near me".
