Firstly I am very surprised she didn't realise it was a railway crossing! 
Surely a gate with a notice saying "if the light is green, drive through" 
must kind-of strongly suggest that.

On the other hand it's very odd the light *was* green when a train was coming. 
That would appear to be the real cause of the accident, not the sat nav...
