Dear Frederick

Thank you for your reply. I will look into that. What I was looking for, was
a link, where on the website I hope to set up, the Open Street Map data I
display, is automatically the latest version from Open Street Map. This
means that I won't have to update the data myself.

It is not the main purpose of my site. That is to display historical map
data. However, users would find it interesting to compare it to modern map
data. Whilst I could do this for an academic, off-line, proto type website,
using Ordnance Survey data, I then can't publish it online, once my
dissertation is finished.

Which is why I am interested in Open Street Map data. I could of course
capture a few streets via GPS, to show what could be done, but that would
not be as good. Of course I can't guarantee this will happen for certain, as
I only have a limited amount of time (up to 1 year), and my programming
skills are still in the early stages of development. However whatever I can
do to avoid Ordnance Survey data would be good, which is a shame, as I enjoy
collecting Ordnance Survey maps and think the data they create, is on the
whole, of a good standard. Still the law is the law and I need to abide by
it.

Kind regards

Timothy Langner

Sorry,

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Planet.osm

is the correct URL.
