Could it happen interactively, rather, so that when a way is selected
there is a slider that has all the nodes at the top, and just the two
ends at the bottom, and as you drag it downwards, nodes are removed in
front of you, and an error in m is displayed (or ideally in m2,
representing the area that is between the two lines)? If you drag it
back up to the top before pressing OK, no changes are made.
