I guess they could be useful for historians etc., so I would include
them. Maybe as historic=place?

This is nothing compared to uploading TIGER data over existing
highways.

If this is in feet, it should have a unit. Or be converted to SI
units.

Do we need this? If you have other "census" tags, this implies
"yes", otherwise, having no "census" tags, it would imply "no". No
information lost.
