London has a population of well over 7,000,000 and it's well on the  
way to being complete in OSM - mostly through mapping parties and  
dedicated individuals on bikes.

Look, this discussion is getting nowhere. If you want something done  
in OSM you do it yourself, and hope that so many other people think  
it's froody that they'll join in and help. Feel free to approach some  
taxi drivers, get their data, and start processing it. But here, as on  
dev, as on IRC, as anywhere, conversations about "you should stop what  
you're doing and do it this way" achieve nothing.
