I always dictate the apostrophe into my dictaphone when I see it, but
the signs are notoriously inconsistent. I have found numerous examples
of signs on opposite sides or ends of a street differing in their
apostrophe-ness, or adjoining variations like "St Johns Road" and "St
John's Avenue", and I'm sure others have too.
