waterway=riverbank is a kind of hack that probably got "destroyed" in
the move to 0.5 at least if it were 2 separate segment chains that made
up one way.
I think Osmarender6 doesn't do the auto-closing of areas like the
version 5 did. However you can now close the ways (even if slightly
incorrect) because the segment doesn't need to be shared anymore.
I would however suggest not to do this and adapt close-areas to also
encompass waterway=riverbank and natural=water.
this would need a redefinement of what's "coast/mixed", "sea" and "land"
on the metadata file, though.
