into OSM then.

But OSM isn't a landmap.  Well, it is currently, and barely even that;
but it has the potential to store any sort of map information.  The idea
should be to add sea navigation map abilities to OSM rather than
dismissing it as "not a navigation map".  So I would think it would be
better to first, determine what information is useful for sailing,
second how to describe it, and third, start gathering it.  This
sub-thread is about the first one.
