[OSM-talk] How to select segments without selecting ways?

You can do that by drawing a selection rectangle around the segment only, or
middle-clicking on the segment (popup appears), then holding Ctrl so
that the Popup remains open, then selecting the segment from inside
the popup.

You can also start your leisure=park or other way and then, when in
the way mode, just click those segments that are already used by
something else - they will be added to the current way additionally.
