Thanks, these all are sensible proposals.  I'd like to ask to render

highway=steps in mapnik.  Starting with level 2 or 3 rendering should

be equal with highway=footway.

While we are at it:

 

Can osmarender flag 'highway=minor' as a problem, it is not in Map Features,
are not rendered by Mapnik at lower zoom levels, and I am still trying to
winkle them out of data in my patch.

 

Can osmarender allow the following tags:

 

ncn=yes

crossing=toucan

crossing=pelican

crossing=zebra

amenity=bicycle_parking

highway=secondary / roundabout=true
