Hi,

1) As some of you may know from previous postings, we closed on June 3 the
project "code named" M(')appare Milano, i.e. a three-month mapping campaign in
the city of Milano, Italy, organised by GFOSS.it, the Italian OSGEO Chapter, in
collaboration with a radio show (Mente Locale) and some of the "hard core"
openstreetmappers residing in the Milano area.

2) We will have a closing
presentation for this project on July 2, 2008.

3) The presentation will be
hosted by the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano - they have
a planning department who proved to be extremely interested in our project, yet
currently has limited experience with OSM and its implications.

We proposed
the idea of having this presentation on their grounds, as a step #1 for
potential future joint projects.

4)GFOSS.it is seeking support to generate
some statistics which will be presented during our presentation.

This request
is directed primarily at the Italian OSM community; however we will be glad to
collaborate with anybody who likes the idea - I guess tools and techniques that
we can apply are largely independent of where the data comes from ;)

5)In
particular, we are interested to explore aspects such as the comparison of
mapping activities generated by our project, vs. "independent" mapping during
the project, and other similar statistics (we can discuss this more in-depth
with whoever is actually interested).

6) I'd like to know if there are one-two
people who may be interested in supporting the preparation of this
presentation. These people will qualify as co-authors in our presentation and
will be credited during our talks.

GFOSS.it is a not-for-profit organisation
in Italy, and the M(')appare Milano project has been conducted on a self-
funding basis, so for this round we cannot provide a more substantial
"recognition".
At the same time I can see an interest by several subjects I
know to take part in the preparation of our presentation, but would not be
available in this period. In any case, I would think there may be others who
are just as interested from the mailing lists.

I thank you for your attention,
and I will be looking for your feedback - may I ask that potential contributors
copy also comunicazioe at gfoss.it, so we are sure that we can detect expressions
of interest independently from the mailing list (which I like to follow anyway
;) ).

Regards,

Andrea Giacomelli - aka pibinko
vice president - GFOSS.it -
Italian OSGEO Chapter

p.s. we are not scared by
the idea of working in French, Spanish or Portuguese for this task, if that
help broadening the basis of potential replies ;)
