[OSM-talk] vandalism or 'where is cuba?'

Vandalism is certainly one case of damage to OSM data, but as has been
pointed out by others it can also happen accidentally.

I have learned to be very careful when editing data as I of course want it
to be as good as possible. But with JOSM it is quite easy to move all points
when in fact all that is intended to move the screen. If the move is more a
nudge because of the zoom level, it can become almost invisible --
particularly in areas where there is little other data so far. I noticed
that I probably nudged a long road I had submitted as subsequently edited
data did not fit anymore.

I think two modifications could be helpful:
-- first all make a bulk move more difficult, so it cannot be executed
unless intended to.
-- secondly, it would be good to have a permanent log recorded by JOSM on my
hard-disk. I think in my case where I accidentally damaged my data, I could
find which data would have been affected and fix it. It has been suggested
that bulk updates get some sort of transaction number and if this was
available it should be included in such a log.
