[OSM-talk] Open Database Licence

See my post to legal-talk around the licence that I made 10 days ago which
was not been responded to by anyone from the OSMF. As others have already
said, it looks stalled to me.

Incidentally I responded in detail to the first draft of the licence and it
is of significant commercial interest to my company that a satisfactory
licence is agreed and that we can see it so we can plan product releases
that use it.

I understand that some people (and some commercial parties) have had sight
of the new licence but that others have not which is of some concern to me.
I do believe that people are acting in good faith, but as OSMF gets bigger
and the commercial space opens up then I think the foundation will have to
become much more aware of possibly conflicts of interest around who gets to
see what when.

I urge the OSMF to make the current draft of the licence available to the
community asap and communicate more effectively with the community in the
future as we go through this tricky phase.

Also, I strongly recommend that the foundation doesn't suddenly reveal the
new licence and suggest we immediately ask everyone to sign up to it. Let's
bottom out any issues on legal-talk and talk and only then consult with all
the other contributors who are not on talk. I for one will need to take
legal advice before signing up to it.

Regards,

Peter
