The two issues with copyright seem to be copyright of the original
image (which should be possible to establish) and the contamination
during the rectification (which needs strong community guidelines and
monitoring). What would one need to do to sort out that issue? Start
again, or just weed out some data?
What resources would be required to 'do it right'? Is it worth doing
that? Are there a group of people who want to do so?
Fyi, ITO purchased a domain called openaerial.org some time back for
this purpose (before openaerialmap was started). If the OpenStreetMap
community would like to use it we would be happy to transfer it to the
foundation at no charge.
