I don't use touch screens often, but perhaps there could be something
similar to a touchpad-input feeling:
Use the finger as mouse pointer,
Provide a zoomed image of the area below the finger in another part of
the screen, e.g. in the upper right corner.
Let's assume you need additional place for tagging the geometry later,
this tagging form area could be used to show that as the zoom window is
not needed when not moving the cursor by finger.
