On those pages you mention: "This could lead to objects with 10.000
points and more" isn't this a separate problem that exist today, and
will be continue to be a problem for every area scheme that you list.
Except you will need to handle it manually by splitting up
ways/areas/relations like we do now? I agree that the side effects
from manually splitting ways, areas and relations differ alot.

So wont solving the problem with editing huge datastructures in OSM be
important regardless what area type gets used.
