Would it be too much to ask that the osmosis.bat file tried some of
the more obvious places that java might have put itself, rather than
just falling over. Checking in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin

might not be a bad idea

and giving an error message telling you what to do about it (if it
couldn't find Java) wouldn't hurt either
