No there hasn't been much talk about this, and yes the tools available
are not geared for spotting mistake edits. Just start a wikipage
called Vandalism reporting and list the ones you have found.
On help I asked how to understand if a changeset, and listed osmdiff
and osm history visualizer both tools that help you investigate and
examine a changset:
