Sorry for the super late reply.

Actually I am not too convinced about proposing the color scheme, the test results were good overall but not as perfect as I hoped. Plus the colors are quite strong compared to other things in the style (see below). It would have been better to vary more than the colours (like Graham said). I did not vary anything else at all.

I'll have to render more examples to properly show it. The colors are probably too strong to be considered for the main map. I got quite interested in the color mess that the mapnik style is though, maybe I will try to tackle that a bit.

Results will be written about once the grade is in. The new color scheme did improve the identifiability overall (silly measure) and in most cases. On the lower zoomlevels (7 and 10) some classes were being confused more often though.
