No, it is not possible to get the last used piece of software to change 
a given object.

This information is present, if at all, in the changesets comments. 
Changesets comments don't go into the ordinary diffs. Thus Overpass API 
never even sees these comments.

I would basically be happy to also provide changesets comments in the 
long run, but at the moment I don't know from what kind of feed (could 
also be XML diffs) I can get them from. Please note that even then it is 
optional for an editing software to put information about itself into 
the changeset.
