I find the latter to be preferential, but I have a tendency to get
hopelessly lost in large surface carparks, particularly if they're on a
flag lot or large shopping mall at Christmas and at major airports (I
arrived in Oklahoma via airport and visited Tulsa International Airport at
least once daily for two years and I still can't navigate most of the
General Aviation or Aviation Industries areas without assistance, and I can
barely navigate Air Cargo and Commercial Aviation without prompting).

Without prompting, I tend to get overwhelmed with negotiating traffic that
I'm not looking for (frequently non-MUTCD/non-ICAO compliant) signage
marking the way to where I'm going and the way out.
