Hi Bert,

That's a good point
ref=* and wikidata=* don't have the same purpose.

wikidata won't number one and each bus stop or fire hydrant in my suburb
and ref=* will.
Despite wikidata knows significant places, people, it doesn't know dozen of
unnamed features (and never will).

I should also add that the point is often to give at least one number to
feature and sometimes you need several (depending on situations, multiple
actors, several feature on the same node and so on).
Not to mention I rarely find third party professional databases which even
know wikidata, pretty all public services in France (Europe ?) use their
own reference schemes.

Finally, two approaches aren't incompatible and we should use them both,
toward different actors though.
