I guess sometimes most arguments and reasoning have already been
exhausted, and you long for simple answers - and "80% of people say A
and only 20% say B" is much easier to work with than "but this and also
that, considering this other thing, we must not ignore that over here..." ;)

Plus, the more you engage in arguments and reasoning, the more you are
"one of those few loud people" who other (less loud but more
influential) people recommend should be ignored!
