It always seems pretty ironic if someone like me who boycotts almost all
so called social media platforms and centralized prorietary real time
communication channels (Slack, Telegram) is framed as 'loud'. I have
come to read the characterization of people as loud by some mostly as
code for inconvenient or heretical.
Yes, engaging in arguments can be daunting - but it can also be
extremely rewarding if you manage to convince others with good
arguments or others manage to change your opinion and widen your
horizon with arguments. And this also leads to more sustainable
decisions than simply suppressing minority views through the
overwhelming force of the interests of a majority.
Lastly in my experience offering an argument and reason based open
discourse has a much better chance of introvert people engaging in the
process than an approach based on negotiation of interests because
arguments once articulated can stand on their own merit while interests
depend on being backed by loud voices (in the original sense of the
word) to find consideration.
