This is wrong. Arabian Gulf countries combined have larger population
than Iran also the Arabian peninsula have larger population. As in
https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/population-by-country/
popualtion country
*83,992,949 **Iran ***
40,222,493 Iraq
4,270,571 Kuwait
34,813,871 Saudi Arabia
1,701,575 Bahrain
2,881,053 Qatar
9,890,402 UAE
5,106,626 Oman
98,886,591 Totally
If you talking about modern definition of Arabian peninsula throw Iraq
and add Yemen ( 29,825,964) the total will be ( 88,490,062). If you talk
about old definition of Arabian peninsula add Yemen and Iraq and
Jordan(10,203,134) and Syria (17,500,658) and Lebanon (6,825,445)
Palestine (5,101,414) the total will be 168,343,206.
So if we compare the population of countries surrounding the Gulf the
name must be Arabic. (98,886,591(54%) vs *83,992,949(46%))*
*
*
*
*
*But If we talk care for all population of countries shares seas so all
seas belong China will have Chinese names and also Russia and India.
So let us take care of only people in gulf coastlines:*
*Iran has only tow cities(over 100,000 population) in the Gulf:*
526,648 Bandar Abbas (in worldometers.info 352,173)
223,504 Bushehr (in worldometers.info 165,377 )
162,797 Bandar-e Mahshahr <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandar-e_Mahshahr>
Total 912,949
(source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_cities_of_Iran)
(note the Bandar Abbas not the relation of the Gulf in OSM it is on
(Strait of Hormuz) but no matter)
Arabian cities of coasline of gulf:
Dubai (UAE) 3,297,980
Kuwait city (Kuwait) 3,000,000
Doha (Qatar) 2,382,000
Abu Dhabi (UAE) 1,807,000
Sharjah (UAE) 1,274,749
Dammam (KSA) 1,252,523
Manama city (Bahrain) 635,000
Al Jubayl (KSA) 392,948
Ajman (UAE) 226,172
Muharraq (Bahrain) 176,583
Ras al-Khaimah (UAE) 115,949
Total 14,560,904 (source of population from wikipedia.org) **
So for population of major cities Gulf the name must be Arabic.
(14,560,904 (94%) vs 912,949 *(6%))*
*If we take care of the administrative divisions have coastline in the Gulf*
*Iran:*
*1,163,400 bushehr (relation/269575)
1,776,415 Hormozgān (half of the province on Arabian Gulf and other
on Gulf of Oman) (relation/3385992)
4,710,509 Khuzestan (All major cities in this province are very far
from the gulf) (realtion/3661581)
total 7,650,324
*
*sourcce of population https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provinces_of_Iran
*
*Arabian region:*
*31,425 Oman Musandam governorate *
*9,738,402 All UAE emaraties except of Fujairah (9,890,402-152,000)*
*2,881,053 Qatar
*
*1,701,575 Bahrain*
3,360,157 Eastern Region on KSA (source wikipedia.org)
4,270,571 Kuwait
2,900,000 Basra governorate (Iraq) (source wikipedia.org)
24,883,183 Total
So if we take the population of *administrative divisions have coastline
in the Gulf **name must be Arabic. (24,883,183(76.5%) vs
7,650,324*(23.5%))**
If we take care of coastline all coastline of gulf as in OSM
12,950,694.04 see
http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/18zO
Iran has only 2,269,365m (17.5%) see
http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/18zM
Saudi Arabia alone has 2,326,098m
So If we take care of coastline the Gulf name must be Arabic (10,681,328
m(82.5%) vs 2,269,365m (17.5%))
So all ways guide us to that "name" tag must be the Arabic name not the
Persian.
