[OSM-talk] What can we offer to commercial users?

Hi,

generally when dealing with commercial users in an OSM capacity I point
them to
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Commercial_OSM_Software_and_Services
so that they can pick a commercial service provider (while also telling
them that OSM data is free and they can set up their own servers with
switch2osm.org etc).

The list is not maintained, and everyone can add themselves and claim to
offer any services, but it's the best we have, and maintaining some sort
of vetted list of recommendations would always carry the danger of the
process being unfair in some way.

The car sharing service I use does the same, and they have an overlay
that shows their locations. The markers in the overlay are dynamic i.e.
they will change colour according to availability and they will open a
pop-up when you click on them, so whether or not the base map actually
shows car sharing locations is irrelevant for my car sharing service.
They could very well use a standard OSM-carto map.

Bye
Frederik
