[OSM-talk] wind parks, solar power plants

Hi and thank you for asking.

Dominic Royé's maps put osm data under lights and it's great.

In Europe we have several sources to find power outputs of plants.
*
https://data.europa.eu/data/datasets/9810feeb-f062-49cd-8e76-8d8cfd488a05?locale=en
(please ask for or seek for an existing right to use this data in OSM:
https://blog.openstreetmap.org/2017/03/17/use-of-cc-by-data/)
* Local countries files, like Simon's one or example in France
https://opendata.reseaux-energies.fr/explore/dataset/registre-national-installation-production-stockage-electricite-agrege/information/
(currently QA checked in Osmose)
* Local knowledge, on-site signage surveyed, markers...
* Ask experts in communities like https://openmod-initiative.org/

I guess there are similar files for other world's regions.
Public data is an important part of planning for energy transition nowadays.

Finally and not the least, beware of differences between generators and
plants
* A plant is a facility
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:power%3Dplant
* A generator is a machine, sometimes part of a plant
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:power%3Dgenerator

generator:output:electricity should only be used with power=generator
plant:output:electricity exists for power=plant.

Best regards

François
