That doesn't really help. man_made=pier doesn't have a clear meaning of area vs line based on tags alone

Because osmium.osm2pgsql.paulnorman.ca is working, I wonder if I built the wrong osm2pgsql branch.

We need unclosed waterway=river to go to the lines table and closed waterway=riverbank to go to the polygon table. If we can't do that, we might as well get rid of the C transforms. Not that I wouldn't welcome that for other reasons.
