That would definitely explain the behavior and issue that I was seeing, and that I blamed on an issue in my own ongoing code development work. I did not witness the same issue with much smaller (Italy & Netherlands) extracts of Geofabrik.

I'll see if I can do a full planet test run with the latest version as well.
