FWIW, i ran into the same FTBFS when bumping up fmt library for fedora. see https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/tchaikov/fmt-12/build/10289243/ . would be great if we can be compatible with fmt 12, as we (the downstream packaging policy) discourage vendoring dependencies..
