I put up a wiki page to describe requirements and installation inner
workings. Compiling osmosis was straight forward for me on a normal
debian/lenny system and so was createing the patch.

It was as simple as installing posgres/postgis - cat schema | psql osm
and then the osmosis --read-xml --write-pgsql (which takes a day) and
then applying the change files ...
