well, about the problem with name and one-way mark, I though that maybe 
just change the startOffset="50%"  value to something like %20, but 
hey,, maybe i am talking shit..

I did have a look on the 14384 changeset, but it is mainly orp.pl, I am 
using:
  xmlstarlet tr xslt/osmarender.xsl stylesheets/osm-map-features-z17.xml 
 > map.svg

So I guess that you are going to drop it in favor of perl right?
