Ah, right. I usually map long roads, creating the way after all segments
are complete. A lot of further editing is required in this case, so the
automatic selection is of no use.

For short roads with only a few segments it does not take long to select
the segments afterwards.

I guess we should have a poll to clarify the needs and common usage cases,
and then adjust the user interface accordingly.
