Yeah, should be possible using intent filters. However, please note that
I will need to focus on implementing existing ideas (optional fields in
presets, displaying preset icons) and testing, debugging and enhancing
whatever I have already implemented.

Please consider putting ideas into the bugtracker so they don't get lost.
