Hi,
the purpose of GSoC is to introduce students to working in an open
source environment. This is why we mainly focus on projects that work
on an existing code base or at least already have a plan for being
integrated into the OSM software eco system. We do not have enough
mentors to support other projects.
Looking at our project list
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2025/Project_ideas
with a background of Python and SQL, the 3D model repository and
Nominatim would be a fit there.
Kind regards
Sarah
