Whenever if is possible to map the building as an area we prefer that
system. Houses mapped as nodes only give you a count of the
structures, as areas yuo an make further guesses about the population
densities and other things based on the area and/or dimensions of the
buildings.
Also, as a separate issue, you should not be tagging it as a house
unless you know for sure that is what it is. Until we have specific
information that it really is a house you should be tagging it as
building=yes.
