HOT reached many new highs in 2015: the largest and most complex disaster
response activation to date (Nepal earthquake), the most number of
volunteers (8000+), and the launch of new and exciting tech tools such as
OpenAerialMap. With these successes come many opportunities for 2016—and
also some challenges. As HOT moves into 2016, a prime focus area will be
continuing to improve the services we provide to partners, OSM communities
and humanitarian mapping groups worldwide. We can only get there through
your continued generous support.

In November and December, our global community is celebrating Thanksgiving,
Bodhi Day, Hanukkah, Eid-e-Milad, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and many other
local and regional holidays. I'm taking this time to reflect on our success
in 2015 and ask for your help in reaching our goals in 2016. When you make
a donation to HOT this holiday season, you'll be joining over 200 others
who have already given back. It takes only two minutes and making a
contribution to an organization you care about is a wonderful way to end
the year.

Uganda* - A 6-month pilot program will kickoff in December 2015 to develop
a data collection methodology that is inexpensive and allows for frequent
collection of financial services available to the community. The program
will evaluate the cost-effectiveness of student and community volunteers as
they are trained and equipped with the necessary skills and tools. An
import of health facility and school locations will also be part of the
project. Read more
