[HOT] GIS Student Mapping Tips & Open Sharing

Hi Marynia,

Thanks for sharing your students' HOT mapathon projects. It sounds very interesting.

Yes, you could start on high priority but easy tasks in from the HOT tasking manager - http://tasks.hotosm.org.  You might also want to announce your mapathon at the OpenStreetMap (OSM) mapathon wiki page - https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapathon

Another great project is the Missing Maps project, which has the goal to  map the most vulnerable places in the developing world - missingmaps.org.  You can also do a Missing Maps Mapathon to add data to the Missing maps project -- this project also uses OSM data and adds data to OSM, and strives to ensure local community access of this data and it is different than the HOT tasks because it is mapping communities BEFORE the emergencies happen.
