Unfortunately "able to distributed under the odbl" is a bad idea as
well, as there may one day be a date when OSM changes licenses
(hopefully a long time from now).
I would say that the best thing to do, if they're willing to make an
exception for OSM, is to make an exception explicitly for OSM, and
then not discuss the license. That way we (OSM) can do whatever we're
going to do and not have to worry about license incompatibilities.
