Another good option to explore would be just publishing the data in an
openly licensed way, on something like data.gov.au if its not already.
That can let interested members of the community to improve the map
somewhat manually, but with the added benefit of a lot of experienced
mappers helping. It's slower, but probably results in a better quality
dataset in the long run.
With a full import, depending on the size of the dataset and complexity; it
can be useful to have a discussion forum or 'bug tracker' as well -
sometimes something like github is used for this purpose. That can help
identify minor quirks in the source data; etc.
