You are right, it is route relations with only nodes, I will update the
wiki so it is more clear. I figured it would be too risky to try and
automate adding the ways as well, especially around junctions. Plus. there
is the issue of certain ways not being split at every possible intersection
which would've also caused problems. Myself, and a couple of other
volunteers will add them in manually once I do this import. The script also
generates all the routes as LineString GeoJSON that can be used as
background/reference layer in JOSM for adding the ways.
Knowing the network, I'm fairly certain there are no telescopic
itineraries, just 2 different directions for each route that might have
variations with 1 or 2 stop differences, but I will double check.
The stops are placed on either side of the road as they appear in the GTFS
dataset. I've attached a screenshot of what tags they get. Later, while
adding the ways, I plan to add stop_position nodes directly on the road, at
the start and end of each route.
