Hi,

In terms of source data quality, it looks mostly good, but I would suggest using more standardized tags. Currently looks like nearly half of the keys contain abbreviations of source datasets (e.g heritage:RS:jurisdiction). Originally I wanted to suggest more generic tags, but I maybe understand why are you using such specific keys. Furthermore, are all these tags needed at all? When I was running an import, i was recommended to limit content to name, preset tags and url pointing to source website. I don’t think information should be that limited, but I doubt OSM database needs for example key heritage:RS:inscription_date (Date of entry in the Central register). Why not include monument’s start date instead? That field is sometimes present in the source dataset.

Remember OSM is international community. While this definitely doesn’t mean names and other unstructured text fields must be in English, you may want to make information more useful for data consumers. Since the IS NKD map application is available in English, I think it is worth to also include English data for wider audiences. I understand you may have considered it bit low quality (for example SK 1085 name is simply „Wells“), but at least personally I think this would have been better than nothing.

Best regards,

Fghj753

Subject: [Imports] Import of monuments in Serbia

Hi,

We ( Serbian OSM community ) are working on importing monuments registered with Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia in OSM. We gained permission to use data from the Institute and prepared data in a way suitable for OSM. From around 2500 monuments around 400 are currently mapped. We plan to go manually over dataset and connect / map unmapped monuments. Project is announced on talk-rs [1] and discussed on forum [2] and Telegram [3]. Project page with all necessary information is on wiki [4]. All discussions are in serbian language, if any help is needed with translation I'm more than happy to help.

Any feedback is valuable and appreciated.

Best,
Vanja
