[OSM-newbies] Benchmarks and OpenStreetMap Updates

Hello all,

    I am back again with a couple more questions.

1) Is there a plugin or method to figure out how many miles or kilometers of ways that you have created? I have been working on two counties over the last 8 or 9 days and my map is getting pretty cluttered up with roads. I am just curious if there is a simple way to tell how much.

2) I have been checking OpenStreetMap in my area of the planet expecting to see the work I have been doing to show up. I am not seeing it yet. I live -6 hours GMT. When should I expect to see the work I have been doing included? Does it depend on the type of roads you have to be considered? I have some primary highways but no interstate highways, or does that matter?

    BTW, I have been able to view them with a request from the information highway.
