Ford is surely the description that should be used. A ford does not have
to be constructed to perform that role; it can simply be a shallow point
on a stream or river that can be crossed by wading/on horseback & c.
Even a 'constructed' ford is susceptible to differences in conditions.
By tagging it as a ford, you are warning users that it is a water
crossing where they will get wet, and may be unusable in the wrong
conditions.
