This seems like something which could be automatically discerned by a
program like maplint. I will in time be looking at it to see what
else it can catch, but right now I don't know if the relationship
you've noticed (anti-clockwise in a left-hand drive country) can be
expressed in maplint's rule set.

That exact text does not appear anywhere in the JOSM source. Could
you quote it precisely?
Could you say more about exactly how you're getting the URL from your
browser into JOSM? Tell us what you did, what you saw, and what you
expected to see. The more precisely you describe the problem, the
more likely it is that we can answer your question quickly.
