[OSM-newbies] Routing in assembled map on Garmin

The maps assembled from those instructions (from the tiles provided by 
ComputerTeddy) are not routable.
Because of this, it sounds like your Garmin is routing using its 
basemap, so it is only using main roads.

If you want a routable Garmin map for Germany, ComputerTeddy provides 
one to download here: 
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Computerteddy#Downloads

Or there's routable Garmin maps here for much of Europe: 
http://emexes.powweb.com/osm/
Though it seems they haven't been updated for several months, so will be 
a bit out of date.

Or you can generate your own routable Garmin maps, using mkgmap etc, 
there's instructions for this on the wiki.
