[OSM-newbies] Highway Intersections with minor roads

There are some instances, often where a new highway had been built across a
pre-existing country road where to accommodate exiting and entering traffic
the highway is widened for a short distance (sometimes a very short
distance) before and after the intersection, on both sides of the highway to
allow for deceleration and acceleration.

 

This type of intersection does not seem to be covered in the intersections
shown in the Features Page. I am seeking suggestions as to how such a
situation should be entered on OSM Potlatch.
